PERIANI Wine Shop for Germany
A German–English online shop bringing PERIANI's Kakheti wines, from classic to qvevri, to customers in Germany, with age checks and local payments.
Challenge
PERIANI is a winery in Vejini, in Kakheti's Alazani Valley, that has been making wine since 2003 on an 80-hectare estate with 60 hectares of vineyards, including vineyards certified for organic grape production under EU rules. It makes both classic wines and wines in the Georgian qvevri tradition, from varieties such as Saperavi, Khikhvi and Vardisperi Rkatsiteli.
To sell these wines directly to customers in Germany through its official representative there, PERIANI needed an online shop in German and English that was set up for German customers — with age verification, VAT-inclusive prices and the legal pages an online shop in Germany has to provide — and that tells the story behind each wine.
Solution
ABOVE Digital built PERIANI's German–English online shop on WordPress and WooCommerce. The wines are organised into classic, qvevri, PDO and reserve ranges, every price is shown including VAT together with the price per litre, and the cart suggests further wines to try.
Visitors confirm that they are at least 16 before entering the shop, and their age is checked again against an identity document on delivery. Customers can pay by bank transfer, PayPal, Klarna, credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; delivery within Germany takes 3–5 working days and is free on orders of €100 or more. Cookie consent, the Impressum, the terms and conditions and the withdrawal information are all part of the site.
Alongside the shop, the site tells PERIANI's story — its vineyards, its winemaking, the qvevri tradition, wine awards and wine tourism — with news and a blog.
